WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY ABOUT COMMUNITY SOUL.........
" Community Soul is the highlight of my month. I love practicing a differnet style of yoga that is totally organic. I feel so connected with myself, people around me and the music. I find myself singing along feeling free, open and connected on a soul level. I love that part of the proceeds go to different non profits...So while I am having the time of my life I am also giving back to the community!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the,"Community Soul: Live Music & Yoga" events are pure magic! As far as I am concerned live music and yoga are a match made in heaven. Thank you for creating such a sense of community and infusing creativity, spontaneity and playfulness into yoga practice. Most of all thank you for inspiring me to stretch my body, mind and spirit.
Love,
Ariel Botta, Cambridge, MA
I've never experienced a yoga class like this before. I have to admit I was a little bit nervous going into a two hour class, but the combination of Bonnie and Chanel's instruction in conjunction with live music left me energized and wishing it was longer. Don't hesitate just go!
Rob Cohen, Central Square
The Community Soul class I attended with Chanel and Bonnie was one of the most spiritually uplifting classes I have taken. Chanel and Bonnie led a very creative and freespirited flow, and when coupled with beautiful live music, created one of the most serene spaces for yoga. I have not felt that kind of peaceful and loving energy from a yoga class in a very long time. I look forward to attending as many of these Community Soul classes as I can!
Love and Light,
Brian Lam, Weston Mass
MUSICIAN BIOS:
Pat:
Pat Donaher’s first CD, On Any Given Day, prompted Cadence Magazine to declare him “…a young talent worth watching”, and he has won as ASCAP Young Jazz Composers' award for his writing. An intense, probing improviser and composer, he is a steady presence on the Boston scene with many varied projects, including the acoustic quintet Lift and the electric No Sale Value. He has performed with such diverse luminaries as Bob Brookmeyer, Bernard Haitink, Benny Carter and Steve Vai. He is also a sought after yoga instructor in the Boston area.
Khabu:
Using ukuleles, guitars, cavaquinho, harmonica, and voice, Khabu creates music in a spirit of collaboration and interaction, exploring the continuum between improvisation and composition, sculpting sounds into musical journeys of the unknown. Born Doug Young in Lubbock, TX, he grew up in Houston and became known as Khabu while attending the High School For The Performing And Visual Arts (HSPVA). After two semesters at William Paterson College (Wayne, NJ), in hopes of being close to the NYC jazz scene, he found his way instead to Boulder, CO. While there, The Naropa Institute provided fertile ground for integrating his diverse interests in Tai Chi, Buddhist meditation, improvised music, health & healing, and anthropology. He soon became an adjunct faculty member and formed The Russian Dragon Band with Art Lande. Later, he moved to New York City to work with artists from all disciplines: theater, dance, spoken word, film, as well as musicians of many styles (often with unique instrumentation). Khabu has toured the US, Canada, Europe, and India with musicians such as Art Lande and Paul McCandless. Along with his cohorts Bob Bowen, Brian Drye, Mike McGinnis, and Jacob Sacks, he is a founding member of The Creative Music Workshop and currently resides in the East Village with his wife and four-year old daughter.
